The Institute & the Mumbai Branch
The Indian Institute of Welding (IIW) is a non-profit professional body recognized by The International Institute of Welding, to promote the interests of welding industry and practicing welding professionals in India since 1966. IIW has its headquarters at Kolkata and has eleven branches located at key industrial cities. The Mumbai Branch of IIW, with its large individual and corporate membership, is one of the institute's most active branches. IIW, Mumbai Branch has been promoting the interests of professionals and industries associated with welding in Western India. The branch conducts regular technical lectures, refresher courses, training programs, workshops and seminars on a regular basis for its members, engineers and welding practitioners. The Associate Membership examination (AM-IIW) conducted by the institute has been recognized by the HRD Ministry, Govt. of India; as equivalent to an engineering degree.
Theme & Objective
Process & transportation Piping is pivotal to the infrastructure development in our country. The seminar aims at discussing the needs and developments in Welding, testing and inspection of pipes for various industries. Welding industry in India has always thrived to keep pace with contemporary international advances to ensure efficient functioning of its engineering industry. The theme of the seminar, 'Developments & Inspection of Welded Pipes - Recent trends' reflects the current focus of the welding industry in India. The seminar aims to bring forward new developments and identify future challenges to improve productivity and efficiency.

  • Inspection techniques, standards and testing of welded pipes

Who Should Attend
This seminar will be useful for most welding professionals engaged in shipbuilding, offshore, chemical processing, petrochemicals, power generation, construction and transportation industries; and also for those engaged in welding of structures and pressure vessels. The seminar will be of great interest to most practicing welding professionals.
Call For Technical Papers
It is proposed to present and discuss six best “Technical Papers” along with one “Case Study” relevant to the chosen theme of the seminar. The author of the best paper will receive the “Ismail Memorial Award”.

Authors interested in presenting papers are requested to e-mail abstracts of their papers on or before December 30, 2007. On acceptance of the abstract, authors are requested to send full text of the paper in MS-word format, page size A4, font - Times New Roman 12, page numbers right-aligned in the footer, pictures & figures duly scanned and center-aligned, text in single column, with total word count not exceeding 3000 to: before January 10, 2008. The seminar will be held at The Grand Peninsula, Saki Naka Junction, Andheri (E), Mumbai 400072 on Saturday, 9th February, 2008, from 9.00 am till 5.00pm.
