|
| Established in 1966, it is now a premier professional Institute and the only India member of the International Institute of Welding (IIW). It has over 4000 individual & 300 industrial corporate members in India and overseas operating through 11 branches situated at Bangalore, Baroda, Bhilai, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Jamshedpur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Tiruchirapalli and Vishakhapatnam and also a newly formed chapter at Bhubaneswar.
IIW-India promotes advancement of welding science and technology by organizing workshops, conferences, refresher courses and exhibitions in different parts of the country. IIW also provides technical guidance and consultations to the industry and other educational institutions, publishes technical journals, periodicals and booklets on welding and related subjects and provides data based information on welding research and development.
The AMIIW examination of IIW-India is recognized by the Ministry of HRD of the Govt. of India and the institute has also launched international courses of the International Institute of Welding for Engineers, Technologists, Professionals, Inspection Personnel and Welders through approved training bodies (ATB’s) spread over the country. Of late, the institute has taken upon itself the role of training the welders through Authorized Training Institutes (ATI’s) under National Welders’ Training & Certification Scheme (NWTCS) & has recently become an authorized assessing body under ‘Modular Employment Scheme’ of the Ministry of Labour & Employment of the Govt. of India. |
